Last day of being 2 years old!

There is a good chance that I cried a lot on Isaac's last official day of being two. I love two. Two is great, and now it's three that I love. Was it really only three years ago that he entered the seen and made our lives considerably sweeter? Woah. At three, Isaac loves

  • when he gets up in the morning and his papa didn't go to work

  • making Seth laugh by jumping on the bed, or blowing on his belly

  • waffles, cheese sticks, JoJo's icecream

  • his best friend, Nathan

  • playing in is mother's flower garden (which is now just a pile of dirt), especially with afore mentioned friend

  • reading books, but watching Diego more

  • trains, cars, and baseball bats

  • his mama to lye down with him at night

  • not taking naps

  • chocolate

  • Family dance, or marching around to 76 Trumbones with his staff (aka spatula/spoon)

Isaac is great at encouraging. He often says, "Good job, mommy. Good job." He sings I am a Child of God to Seth when he is crying. And if there is a fix-it project, he is the best right hand man in the house. He tells his dad, "I helpin you, dad," over and over.

Cutest leprechauns on the planet!!!

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!
He tickles me to my very core

Corned beef and cabbage, our new St. Patrick's Day tradition, just like they do it in the old country...err maybe not, I've been to Ireland twice and I never ate it there.

Even our house celebrates the Irish holiday.

Two brotherly leprechauns, you gotta love 'em baby!

Hand over the whole pot, laddy!

He did it!...not

Quick update. Eric came home a little early today. So he came in, I'm lookin' like a whirling dirvish in the kitchen, and Seth is wanting to be picked up. I catch Isaac's eye and he looks like "Doh!" so I ask if he needs to go. He consents and we head to the bathroom. He got his "capsule"; he's happy, I'm happy...until I go sit by Seth. I notice a puddle on the floor.

Flustered me: Oh Isaac! Did you go on the floor?
Isaac: I peed on da monkey.
Flustered me: (Looking down at the wet monkey right by Seth's head) Oh Isaac!
Eric: (mini fit of laughter)

There goes my perfect record.

He did it!

I have asked Isaac probably 10 times if he wants to "go in the potty." We have had several preliminary success moments in the bathroom. I think he is ready but he always says "NO Fank You!" Today I didn't ask. It is nap time and so far we are batting 1000. Of course it wont be this easy, so I have to write while things are still perfect, er close to perfect.

Anna's (my BFF) nephews were all potty trained by taking off their diapers and letting them run free. I refrained for a while but then Isaac's friend Nathan has just hit the golden potty trained marker the same way, so I thought I would give it a go.

Obstacle #1, Isaac ran around without a diaper for awhile then I came in and he had put on some pants all by himself. Good job, Isaac for getting dressed on your own. Who cares if they were your PJs. Sorta defeats the run free and easy theory for PTing, but oh well.

Obstacle #2, Isaac wanted to watch his beloved Dora. I gave him a thumbs up as soon as he did his his number on the toilet. He would sit on the porcelain thrown but that is ALL he did, sit there. So the books say demonstrate..mm...well...ok. I demonstrated and then rewarded myself with a cool capsule surprise. Isaac was sold (thanks Caroline). You put the capsule in water, it dissolves and you get a little spongy animal. Very cool for three reasons:
1-Motivation to use the loo
2-Observation of the shapes, and identification of the sponge's shape (ie. is it a dinosaur? giraffe? etc)
3-Utilization of fine motor skills to use a pen to cross off the animal on the back of the package

So anyway, we have our lesson and a few minutes later I hear a flush and Isaac runs in to find me, "I did it!" Huh? I don't believe him because I wasn't there to help. Why was I such a nay sayer? Sure enough, he did it! Evidence was "spotted." All by himself! Wha-hoo!

He went again before his nap. So far, so great.

PS please don't rain on my parade by telling me it wont last.

we forgot...

Isaac ate a hot dog and wanted another one and I was running around fixing Seth's first "flavored" cereal, it was carrot if you care to know. Anyway, I sit down and am happily shoveling orange mush into Seth's face while Isaac makes him smile and laugh. Halt!

Isaac, with an appropriate shocked expression: "Mama, we forgot the blessing!"

In primary just last week I told the little children they are the best reminderers for praying. Boy was I right. Way to go Blue Eyes. I love being your mama.

A few days ago...

Isaac: Mom? We have cookies for dinner?
Me: Mmm, ok.

M-kay, thats all.
